  • Unit 47: How to create and use Facebook community pages


    • Unit Introduction

      The main idea behind Facebook is that it creates a community where people can share ideas, feelings and content. Facebook’s community pages allow you to communicate with your community in an effective way. In this unit, we are going to learn about how to use Facebook community pages in the classroom.

      For this assessment, you have two options. You only need to complete one option.


      OPTION 1:

      Now that we have seen how to create a community page, you can create your own!

      1. Think about a topic that you want your page to be about. For example, you might want your page to be about your class so that parents and students can join the page and contribute to it. Or you might want it to be about a big class project that your students will need to complete.
      2. Go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php and select “Cause or Community”
      3. Follow the instructions that you learnt about in the video to create your page
      4. Plan out your Page and submit the plan in the link below.
      5. Create your page on Facebook
      6. Submit your plan as well as the name of the Facebook page that you have created in the link below

      Tips:

      • You could use a profile photograph of your class or of the teachers in the school
      • Remember to keep the information simple
      • Once you have create the page, you can invite people to join by typing their names in on the right hand side of the page where it says “Search for friends to invite”.
      • If you want to return to your page, simply log into Facebook, click the drop-down menu on the right and select the correct page under “Your pages”

      OPTION 2:

      Join a community page on Facebook that interests you and give feedback on it. Then answer the following questions and upload your answers in the space provided.

      1. What is the name of the page that you joined
      2. How did you find the page?
      3. Why did you decide to join this page?
      4. How many people have joined the page?
      5. What is the page for/about?
      6. Name three different elements on the page eg. photos
