Topic outline
Unit Introduction
In this unit we will use a spreadsheet package, MS Excel, and investigate ways students might use the package to learn. Our task will be to determine how students might harness technology, in this instance spreadsheets, to demonstrate that they have acquired a competency, knowledge or values as outlined in the curriculum? We can't provide lesson plans for every subject or grade so we will showcase a few examples and then challenge you to think how the software might be used in your classes and share your ideas with others.
By the end of the lesson you should be able to the following:
Select at least one of the links below to start your lesson. Even if these are not your subject see if the lesson plans spark an idea about how this tool could be used in your subject or grade.
Technical Skills
Feel you need better spreadsheet technical skills? This lesson focuses on the integration of spreadsheets into teaching and learning and assumes you have mastered the basic skills. If you feel you need more practice use the tutorial resources below.
Assessment instructions
Use the assignment submission tool below to upload a lesson plan, created in a word processor, describing how you would use a spreadsheet program to encourage learners to master one of the curriculum skills. This document will become part of your e-portfolio.
